Marty Schaerer Batarla

     Marty graduated from college with her art degree and tried her hand at teaching, for two years. She was quick to realize that she would rather be making jewelry than teaching others how to. She quit teaching and opened her first jewelry studio...in her bedroom. Thirty years later she is still designing and making jewelry in her studio...now located in the Artist's Colony at the Greenbrier resort.

Bill Batarla

     Bill started designing and making jewelry in the middle 60's, while in college, and also first started cutting stones then, too. He spent over twenty years in the commercial fine jewelry industry designing for volume production. His jewelry designs have been in many major catalogs across the U.S. for many years.

     Bill turned 50, met Marty, and fell in love with her and her lifestyle. She was designing and hand making one-of-a-kind original jewelry. He retired from commercial jewelry and became Marty's partner, in business and in life. They married and relocated to West Virginia, to open their jewelry studio in the Artist's Colony of the Greenbrier resort.
